hello,
it seems like i got a similar problem. all the widget-areas under the main-menu dont work – the widgets simply dont appear.
of course, i created two static pages and selected them in the customizer – but no way!
the widget areas above the main menu are working like a charm.i cant send you the link to my homepage, because at the moment i am using another theme and the site is live.
do you have any ideas and can help me?

no, the settings arent missing – i tried out the different types of widgets at the different widget areas – even if i take cv-widgets oder standard wordpress-widgets: they are not shown.
